GENESIS (demo) : So what's next?


Okay so this is gonna be a brief on what's happening next with GENESIS.

Essentially the game is 25 - 30% completed, it involves 4 levels/stages, the first of which is featured in the demo. Production will slow down now that school has started up again (it's my final year of a-levels so it's going to be pretty tough to juggle this project) but I will do my best to work on it a little at a time which will hopefully be substantial enough.

Currently I've gone back to the game and am opening up the story line again to continue right after where the demo left-off. It's a bit of a mess and I've already encountered a few bugs and typos I need to fix so I'll work on clearing those up right away (picture relevant... very relevant).

I'll update the devlog to keep a record of my progress so far, in the meantime here's some trivia for the demo:

  • The game was originally going to be called 'GLOOM' which is okay I guess but not as relevant as GENESIS
  • The Medic isn't a girl... or a boy... they're a robot so to put it crudely there's nothing going on down there 
  • Jasper eats nothing but rotten food, it's the only thing that's gentle enough on his collapsing digestive system (he'll often leave apples lying around until they have reached an acceptable level of putrescence)
  • Dr. Yakul is a guy (only male deer have antlers), yes I know he's decked out in flowers but he is a gardener after all 
  • Even I don't know how to pronounce Dr. Protogonos
  • Speaking of, those weird hallway creatures are based of the symbol for the original Protogonos (the primeval deity of new life) which is a snake wrapped around an egg
